Technology
How
can so much chemical product be packaged into such
a small bottle/baton?
| Our waterless
solid chemical products are highly concentrated
containing between 97% and 100% active ingredients.
No water, fillers or other product modifiers are
added. This makes them both significantly smaller
by volume and lighter than their liquid equivalents.
Conversely, liquid formulations are predominantly
water based and contain only a small percentage
of active ingredient. The remaining components
in most liquid products are fillers and non-performance
modifiers like caustic soda. |
|
>>
Is
this technology new?
|
No. Our solid chemicals
use proven chemical technologies that are well
established and have been used successfully
in several other industry sectors. The most
common being the detergent and janitorial sectors.
>> |
|
Will
your solid technology work in water treatment applications?
Yes. Our solid chemicals use well proven, state of
the art chemical technologies to deliver like-for-like,
or better, scale prevention, corrosion protection,
microbial control; and fouling minimisation when compared
to their liquid equivalents
>>
How
does the chemistry work?
The application chemistry of our solid chemicals
works in the same way as their liquid equivalents,
the only difference being the method of delivery.
Our products are a solid chemical mixed in-situ with
water only at the point of use, liquids being delivered
to site pre-mixed.
>>
How
can your solid chemicals perform at low feed rates?
Because they are highly concentrated, waterless solid
chemicals only small amounts of feed water are required
to emulsify the concentrate so that it can be fed
at recommended rates.
>>
Are
solid chemicals only suitable for smaller systems?
No. Our solid chemicals can be used equally well
on small to very large systems in the same way liquid
chemicals are used.
>>
Are
there any special storage considerations for solid
chemicals?
We recommend that all products are stored in a cool,
dry area and protected from temperature extremes.
At higher temperatures (above 32oC) products
may begin to soften but can still be used as the chemical
composition will not change.
>>
What
is the typical shelf-life?
Correctly stored product will remain active for between
24 and 36 months from the date of manufacture.
>>
Equipment
Do
I need to change my existing pumps and controllers?
No. All our products are compatible with pumps, controllers
and other equipment used with traditional liquid chemicals.
>>
Do
I need any specialist equipment?
|
Our products are designed to operate using compact, wall mounted dosing
units that allow the controlled dissolution
of our solid chemicals. Our solid chemicals
are compatible with pumps, controllers and other
equipment used with traditional liquid chemicals.
>>
|
|
What
test equipment do I need?
We have developed a range of professional test
kits and analysis equipment specifically for monitoring
the use of our solid chemicals. Advice on test methodology,
equipment and test kit selection is also available.
>>
Operational
What
water quality do I need?
We recommend that mains fed water of potable quality
is used. Re-circulating system water should be avoided.
Products for use in both soft and hard water conditions
are available.
>>
Are
solid chemicals available in different sizes?
Yes. We offer several alternative product formats,
bottles, batons and tablets.
>>
How
do I dispose of the empty plastic bottles?
Once used the plastic bottles should already be empty
and clean, this occurs automatically as part of the
dissolution process. The empty bottles can be treated
as general waste and either recycled or disposed with
other waste. If there is a small amount of product
in the top or bottom of the inverted bottle, this
can be combined into the new replacement bottle.
>>
Do
I need to remove the plastic wrapper from the small
batons?
The plastic wrapper used on the batons is water soluble
and will dissolve harmlessly once added to the system.
>>
Safety &
Health
Are
your solid chemicals safe and easy to handle?
|
Yes. Our largest bottled product
weighs only 5.5kg, and our small baton products
generally weigh less than 0.5kg making them
more convenient and easier to handle than liquid
chemicals.
The solid, compact form eliminates many of
the health and safety risks; and liability issues
often associated with the handling of heavy
drums; and storage of liquids and hazardous
chemicals.
|
|
>>
Is
chemical exposure an issue?
No, our solids are fully encapsulated in either a
100% recyclable plastic bottle or water soluble wrapper
eliminating the potential for unwanted chemical contact
and exposure issues. The chemical dissolution process
employed is also fully automated using our specialist
dosing systems which further eliminate the potential
for unwanted chemical contact.
Recommendations detailed in the Safety Data Sheet
should always be followed.
>>
How
do solid chemicals eliminate hazardous spills and
splashes?
Yes, our chemical products are manufactured
in a solid form and will not spill or leak even
if the outer bottle or packaging is damaged.
This eliminates the hazards normally associated
with punctured drums, hazardous spills and splashes;
and the need for containment bunding and chemical
pouring.
Our solid form chemical products also eliminate
the potential for noxious odors or hazardous
fumes; often a problem with liquid chemicals.
|
|
Recommendations detailed in the Safety Data Sheet
should always be followed.
>>
Environmental
How
can I eliminate the need to rinse or dispose of my
unused hazardous chemicals?
Our solid chemicals are designed to be fully consumed
as part of the treatment process to leave no waste
residue. This eliminates the need to rinse or dispose
of unused hazardous chemicals.
>>
How
can I reduce my waste disposal and landfill responsibilities?
All packaging including the individual plastic
bottles, wrappers; and outer cardboard packaging
are designed to be 100% recyclable as general
waste. This will reduce waste disposal and landfill
responsibilities.
>> |
|
Can
solid chemicals help reduce total "road miles"
and CO2 emissions?
Containing no water makes our solid products significantly
smaller by volume and lighter than their traditional
liquid chemical equivalents making them easier to
move around and store. As a result, warehousing and
handling costs, road miles and CO2 emissions
can be significantly reduced.
>>
How
does using solid chemicals save space?
|
Our
solid chemicals are significantly smaller than
traditional liquid chemicals and so take up
much less space. The empty bottles can also
be disposed or recycled as normal waste eliminating
the issues around used drum storage, disposal
and landfill responsibilities.
Additionally, our dosing systems are designed
to be wall mounted. This minimises the space
required for equipment and chemicals; and keeps
working areas neat and tidy; and free from tripping
hazards.
