Oxidising Biocide for Cooling Water Systems - US EPA Registered

Product Name:

SCT6023
Application: Oxidising Biocide for Recirculating & Once Through Water Systems
Brief Description: US EPA Registered Oxidising Biocide
Format: Bottle (2.05kg) - Solid
Description

SCT6023 is a US EPA registered fungicide, bacteriacide, algaecide; and molluscicide for recirculating and once-through water systems. SCT6023 is a halogenated hydantoin based oxidizing biocide that functions as an effective microbiocide through the controlled release of active bromine and chlorine.

SCT6023 is recommended for the control of bacterial, fungal and algal slimes in evaporative condensers, re-circulating cooling tower systems, influent systems, industrial wet scrubber systems, sewage systems, auxillary water systems, photo processing wash water, air washers; and brewery pasteurisers. Published studies demonstrate that the combination of free and combined halogens provided by SCT6023 is more efficacious toward biofilm than either free chorine or free bromine alone. The increased stability of the combined halogens in systems with high halogen demand also allows greater diffusion into the biofilm without loss from unwanted side reactions.

SCT6023 is available in fully recyclable plastic bottles each containing 2.05kg of concentrated solid chemical.

SCT6023 contains 1-bromo-3-chloro-5, 5-dimethylhydantoin, 1, 3-dichloro-5, 5-dimethylhydantoin and 1,3-dichloro-5-ethyl-5-methylhydantoin.

Use with SCT6019

SCT6023 is an activator for residual bromide from the degradation of DBNPA. When SCT6019, which is based on DBNPA is used as a cooling tower microbiocide it decomposes to bromide ion. When supplemented with SCT6023, the bromide ion present in the re-circulating water is activated to hypobromous acid, effectively introducing an additional algaecide in to the system. The use of SCT6019 and SCT6023 combine together to create a highly effective oxidizing / non-oxidising bio-control programme.

Both SCT6019 and SCT6023 are US EPA registered.

Chlorine/Bromine Source

SCT6023 can be used on its own as a chlorine/bromine source.

Available chlorine % Cl2 - 43%
Available bromine % Br2 - 43%

SCT6023 contains no binders and is effective in both alkaline and acidic pH ranges.

Dosage Rate

For industrial re-circulating cooling water systems dosage rates for SCT6023 will be dependent on the conditions of the system prior to treatment. Systems that are heavily contaminated should be cleaned prior to product use. Apply SCT6023 to maintain a free halogen residual in the re-circulating water.

3.6m3 of system volume, dosed at 1 ppm, would require 5g of SCT6023. Approximately 22 litres of solution from an SCT approved dissolution system feeder. There is 0.7g of SCT6023 in 3.6 litres of solution.

Testing & Control

DPD free/total test kits suitable for monitoring and controlling the use of SCT6023 are available from SCT.

Feeding

Feed SCT6023 using an SCT approved system containing no metal parts that would come in contact with solution or vapours.

Packaging, Storage and Handling

SCT6023 is packaged in cases containing 4 x 2.05kg bottles.

Each case weighs 8.2kg.

For all safety data refer to the latest SCT MSDS.

Store this product in cool, dry area. Correctly stored product will remain effective for between 24 to 36 months.
